Lab Facilities & Tooling

The Dime Desktop Research Lab

A dedicated physical and remote engineering sandbox designed for deep ledger telemetry, protocol benchmarking, and hands-on node observation.

The Dime Desktop Research Lab

Welcome to the Dime Desktop Research Lab, our flagship computing facility located in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province, Thailand.

Whether attending in-person at our physical learning center or connecting remotely through our low-latency sandbox stations, researchers gain access to purpose-built hardware environments tailored for distributed ledger analysis.

Laboratory Workstation Architecture

Running local read-only nodes and continuous ledger scrapers requires specialized desktop hardware capable of sustaining extreme disk write operations and high-bandwidth gossip streams. Our lab stations are built to provide consistent, unthrottled performance:

SubsystemLab Station SpecificationEducational Purpose
Processor (CPU)AMD Ryzen 9 7950X (16 Cores / 32 Threads, up to 5.7 GHz)Parallel transaction signature verification and Tower BFT state evaluation.
Memory (RAM)128 GB DDR5 6000MHz ECC RegisteredMaintains full in-memory ledger state caches and prevents disk paging.
Storage (Primary)2 TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe (PCIe 4.0, 7450 MB/s Read)Dedicated to live ledger accounts database and real-time append logs.
Storage (Archival)4 TB Crucial T700 PCIe 5.0 NVMeStores historical uncompressed slot snapshots and Geyser indexing databases.
NetworkingDedicated 10 Gbps SFP+ Fiber Uplink with Dual RedundancyMaintains uninterrupted gossip cluster peerings and low-latency RPC queries.
Display EnvironmentDual 32-inch 4K Color-Calibrated Displays (Vertical + Horizontal)Simultaneous live telemetry monitoring, terminal log streams, and code inspection.

Pre-Configured Monitoring & Telemetry Stack

Every lab workstation comes pre-loaded with our proprietary open-source educational monitoring bundle:

  1. Terminal Command Center: Customized tmux session layout featuring real-time log tailing, CPU core thread utilization, and peer gossip connection statistics.
  2. Prometheus & Alertmanager Suite: Comprehensive local metric scrapers tuned to collect slot execution time, pending transaction queues, and bank fork depths at 1-second intervals.
  3. Curated Grafana Dashboards: Over 15 specialized visualization dashboards covering:
    • Cluster Health & Leader Rotation Tracker
    • Vote Account Latency & Delinquency Monitor
    • Transaction Compute Unit (CU) Breakdown
    • Gossip Protocol Packet Ingestion & Drop Rates
  4. Interactive Sandbox CLI Tools: Step-by-step CLI scripts that allow students to simulate network partitions, replay historical slot forks, and analyze how validator consensus recovers.
